About TextCountr

TextCountr counts words, characters, sentences and paragraphs as you type, and tells you how long your text takes to read or say out loud.

It is built for everyday writing jobs: hitting an essay word count, fitting a post into a character limit, sizing up an SEO title or a text message, or timing a speech.

Everything is counted in your browser. Your text is never sent to us, never stored and gone as soon as you close the page.

How we build our tools

• Free, with no sign-up. Open the page and use the tool. There are no accounts and no paywalls.
• Private by default. Tools run in your browser wherever possible. When a server is needed, we process what is required to answer your request and do not log or store it.
• Fast and focused. One job per tool, done well, on any device.
• Funded by ads. Ads keep the tools free. They sit in clearly labelled spaces and never between a tool and its result.

Who is behind TextCountr

TextCountr is made by Codebit, a small independent studio in Copenhagen, Denmark, that builds websites and apps. TextCountr is one of a family of small, free utility sites that share the same simple design and the same privacy principles.
